Our plants are propagated as cuttings and then grow into strong quality planting material in the open ground. Our aim is to get as much branching and vitality in the plant as possible. The strength of our plants is a great benefit to our customers. The healthy rooting of our plants form a solid foundation and the amount of buds on the branch completes the shrub for you.

Verpaalen’s plants enjoys an healthy soil. Among other things, we opt for a mechanical approach to weeds, which greatly limits the use of herbicides. By carrying out non-inversion tillage and rotating green manures on our plots, a rich soil life is present. After all, the soil is the basis of the quality of planting material achieved.

MIRACLE

In 2016 Harrie Verpaalen made a discovery at our nursery. He found a special specimen among the Cornus alba 'Elegantissima' cuttings in the greenhouse. After producing tens of thousands of plants now, our Cornus alba 'Miracle' (PBR: 'Verpaalen2'PBR) is in worldwide circulation.

Cornus Miracle shows a miracle of colors! This variegated dogwood has green-white leaves with a pink margin in spring and early summer. In late summer to autumn the foliage is an intense purple-pink. In winter Miracle also has red branches. Miracle tolerates both full sun and partial shade. Plant Miracle in fertile, well-drained soil. Without pruning, this beautiful Cornus Miracle will grow about 2m high and wide; with pruning it will remains about 1m high and wide. Miracle is very suitable as a garden plant and for mass planting. Winterhardy to -30 ºC.
